The Plan 2026
THE PLAN 2026
Again in 2026, we will offer a routine preventive care package, known as “The Plan”, to our clients. Our goal is to offer you, our valued clients and patients, what we consider to be complete and appropriate preventive care from professionals, using quality medicines and supplies. The package would be scheduled in advance – ensuring completion and preventing missed appointments or neglectful scheduling. We ask for payment in advance, and in return provide a discount of 20%.
The Plan is specific and limited in its inclusions, by design – items we think are essential – and we are offering those at a discount to make the package more appealing to some who might not otherwise be interested in this level of care. This is a way to “reward” those who do everything we ask and help those who do not, but might like to. The scheduled visits and products would be for the calendar year in which they were set up and funds would not be transferable or refundable under normal circumstances. Additional medications can be dispensed, vaccines administered and services provided as needed on those visits.
The Plan aims to simplify preventive care for those who wish to participate; and while it reflects what we as a practice recommend for the majority of our patients, it is in no way required or obligatory and we will continue to serve you as best we are able, according to your individual needs and desires. We will continue, as always, to honor your wishes and provide services for your horses but we are not able to discount all preventive care – items and services outside of this program would be billed normally.
The Plan for The Johnson Veterinary Clinic will include:
- Spring vaccines – tetanus, E/W, West Nile, Flu/Rhino ($125)
- Fall vaccines – Potomac Horse Fever, Rabies, Flu/Rhino ($85)
- fecal egg count ($60) and treatment recommendation if needed
- dental exam and equilibration/float ($70 sedation, $145 dental)
Together, these total $485 per horse. Scheduling in advance helps us work and order supplies more efficiently. It also helps ensure that your horse receives necessary care and is up to date on vaccinations, preventing illness and poor health later. We all benefit and that allows us to offer this package as The Plan for $385 (discounted 20%).
Our practice covers a wide variety of distances and housing situations – making the trip charges quite variable. As such, it becomes difficult to include travel expenses in a common plan. We would assess the travel fees at the time of each visit, adding to that bill any additional medications or services requested. Whenever possible, needed procedures outside of The Plan should be added to the schedule in advance of the visit, to ensure enough time. These might be items as simple as a dewormer or Coggins test, or possibly more complex like a lameness exam or recheck foot x-ray.
During the months of January and February interested clients may schedule The Plan. An enrollment form will need to be completed and signed by each owner. The forms can be printed from our website (JohnsonEquineVets.com) and we will happily mail one to you. Please contact us via phone, e-mail, or Facebook, if you have questions or to request additional forms. Once the form and payment have been received your plan will be scheduled and activated. The teeth/dentals could be scheduled for Spring or Fall at the time of sign-up and plan activation. The fecal should be dropped off in June – July to best determine which horses need additional deworming during the summer but we can collect at a visit as well. Ziplock bags with the horse’s name and owner’s last name are the best way to submit. Setting this up in advance allows us to be flexible and you know your schedule better than us so please take advantage of the prior scheduling and list dates and times that work for you – we can usually accommodate, but only if you tell us what works. Often clients bring horses to the clinic for teeth appointments and do the other appointment at home.
We know you will have questions about The Plan and we are happy to answer them – but after February 28 we will end discounted enrollment for 2026. We will continue to schedule and sign-up patients for The Plan throughout the year, but a late fee of $50 will be assessed after February 28. Thank you for your consideration.
